As an beholder of the world I have to comment on the marriages in America. I mean I remember my parents and grandfather and grandmother tell my fairy-tale stories about how a boy met a girl, fell in love, got married and lived enjoyably ever after. However, something seemed to reverse over the last ten years or so that has turned this fairy-tale ideal on its head. It seems that after the wedding gown was worn, after the wedding engagement presents were used, and after the honeymoon was over, couples decide to call it quits. This is a sad but usual thing in today?s society.
My parents have been together for almost twenty-one years now and are still going strong; my grandparents have been married for over thirty. If they got married in today?s market people would say they would be fortunate if they got past the first five years and even that?s pushing it. What happened to today?s community where the wedding gown and ceremony is the only part of marriage that has generally stayed the same but the actually staying married is now completely gone?
This is a concern with no strait answer, I?m a girl and locating the perfect wedding gown on the first try is more likely them me answering this query. Some people say it?s because of all your past commitments and hurts that are toxic to your marriage. Some people say that you just didn?t learn enough about the person you married and other say it because you had children to early and could handle the duty.
However, what I don?t get is that my mom and dad and grandparents got thought the hard times after the wedding engagement, why can?t people in this age bracket? Personally, I think the celebrity media is to blame. I mean we see celebrities getting married and divorce almost routinely after they say ?I do.? Kim Kardashian would be my biggest example; they didn?t even make it past the honeymoon and barley made it past the wedding engagement. I mean that?s pretty silly.
However, even if my opinion isn?t the reason why marriages today seem so easily vulnerable to failure, I do want it to stop. I mean, I?m not married, or in a relationship or anything but eventually I would want to get married to the right person. However, it?s hard to image that when all the other marriage relationships around you seem to destined to fail. I wouldn?t wasn?t my effort on purchasing an expensive wedding gown if my marriage won?t last to begin with.
