Guns silent in hours after Syria truce deadline

BEIRUT (Reuters) - Syrian troops held their fire in the hours after a U.N.-backed ceasefire took effect at dawn on Thursday, casting a silence over rebellious towns they had bombarded heavily in recent days.

But the lull did little to convince opposition activists and Western powers of President Bashar al-Assad's good faith in observing a peace plan agreed with international envoy Kofi Annan. In defiance of that deal, Syrian troops and tanks were still in position inside many towns, activists told Reuters.

The exile opposition, calling the truce "only partially observed" due to that failure to withdraw, urged a renewal of mass protests on Friday. But it warned those taking to the streets, after months when once weekly rallies have been subdued by fear, that they could expect government forces to open fire.

The Interior Ministry urged rebels to surrender, promising to free those who had not killed, and broadcast an appeal to the thousands who fled battered cities like Homs and Hama to return from the havens they found in Turkey, Lebanon and within Syria.

But streets in troubled towns remained nervously empty and, in one clear report of violence after the ceasefire, activists said security forces shot a man dead at a checkpoint in Hama.

"It was a bloody night. There was heavy shelling on the city of Homs. But now it is calm, and there is no shooting," said Abu Rami, an activist in Syria's third city after the 6 a.m. (0300 GMT) deadline passed. Assaults on restive neighborhoods had become more intense after Assad accepted Annan's timetable.

Government spokesman Jihad Makdissi said Damascus was "fully committed" to Annan's success and, as there had been no attack on the troops, "There is no reason to break the ceasefire."

At the United Nations, Annan was to brief the deeply divided Security Council at 1400 GMT. Western powers, though hesitant to intervene militarily, are lobbying Russia, a key ally for Assad, to drop its veto on other U.N. measures to pressure Syria into abandoning four decades of autocratic rule by his family.

The 13-month crisis has pushed pressure waves out along faultlines that criss-cross the Middle East, pitting Sunni Arabs against Shi'ite Iran, and alarming Turkey, whose prime minister on Thursday cited his country's right to call on its NATO allies to defend a border where Syrian troops opened fire this week.

People contacted in the flashpoint provinces of Homs, Hama and Idlib, which saw sustained shelling by Assad's forces over the past week, reported calm. Damascus too seemed quiet.

The Syrian government bars access to most independent media.

"Snipers, tanks and soldiers are still there. They haven't gone anywhere," said an activist in Homs named Yazan. "People are wary and they believe that this ceasefire is only temporary.

"Nobody is leaving their home."

OBSERVER MISSION?

Burhan Ghalioun, exile head of the opposition Syrian National Council (SNC), told Reuters he expected demonstrations on Friday after weekly prayers - a feature of the revolt that had been subdued by violence in recent months. But he did not trust the authorities who had their "hand on the trigger".

"The Syrian people will go out tomorrow in the biggest possible numbers so that the Syrian people can express their will," Ghalioun said. "While we call on the Syrian people to protest strongly... we ask them to be cautious because the regime will not respect the ceasefire and will shoot."

A Norwegian general who has spent the past week in Damascus discussing a planned U.N. peace observer mission said he was "cautiously optimistic". But Major-General Robert Mood, who was briefing Annan in Geneva, told Norway's NTB news agency: "Both sides are plagued by a very high degree of mutual suspicion.

"It's terribly difficult for them to cross that abyss."

Annan's plan has been for about 250 unarmed U.N.-mandated observers to monitor the ceasefire. A similar Arab League mission ended in disarray amid mounting violence in January.

Spokesman Makdissi told the BBC Syria wanted the monitors to start "as soon as possible to monitor any possible violations".

British Prime Minister David Cameron, speaking after the lull took hold, said Assad was failing to abide by the terms endorsed by the full U.N. Security Council last week:

"I feel an immense sense of frustration because the world has come together behind this Kofi Annan plan," he told the BBC. "This is a plan, remember, that is not just backed by those of us who have been pushing for action on Syria, it's also backed by China and Russia. And yet Assad is deliberately flouting it."

In an indication of how the Western leaders who intervened to help rebels topple Muammar Gaddafi in Libya last year are reluctant to do likewise in Syria, Cameron made it clear that the main thrust of Western efforts would still be to persuade Moscow and Beijing to accept tighter diplomatic sanctions.

"Now is the time to say to the Russians and Chinese, look at the man we are dealing with, look at the appalling way he is behaving," Cameron said. "We need to go back to the U.N. and tighten the pressure, tighten the noose."

CHINA HAILS CEASEFIRE

Russia and China, alarmed by the way last year's Security Council resolution on Libya led to military intervention against a sovereign state, have vetoed attempts to penalize Assad, although the United States, European Union and Arab League have imposed their own economic and political sanctions.

China's Foreign Ministry called on the opposition to honor the truce, something the disparate rebel movements have said they are willing to do - although Western leaders and Annan's team have made clear the onus is on the government to act first.

"China welcomes the government's relevant decision, which will help to ease tensions," the ministry said in a statement. "China also calls on the Syrian armed opposition to immediately cease fire and implement Annan's six-point proposal."

Annan's spokesman stressed on Wednesday that all elements of the plan must also be respected - notably "Item 2", which calls for armed forces to withdraw from the vicinity of urban areas.

Syria's Defense Ministry said on Wednesday it would halt operations but made no mention of an army pullback from cities and said it would confront "any assault" by armed groups.

The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, said the commitment could not be construed as complying with the former U.N. secretary-general's peace plan: "The caveats in the letter are worrying," she said. "But nothing casts more doubt on the credibility of the commitments than the fact that commitments have been made and made and made and broken and broken and broken," she said on Wednesday, noting that attacks had intensified since Assad agreed to the plan two weeks ago.

The Syrian rebels were also skeptical of Assad's intentions.

"The Defense Ministry announcement is a deviation from Annan's plan, which clearly says he should pull back the tanks and end violence," Qassem Saad al-Deen of the Free Syrian Army said on Wednesday, adding that the fighters would give the truce a chance but could respond if the government broke it.

It is unclear how far FSA commanders, the SNC or any of the other elements of the opposition can control fighters in Syria.

Assad's forces have killed more than 9,000 people in the past year, according to a U.N. estimate. Damascus says rebels have killed more than 2,600 soldiers and security personnel.

Warmer Temps May Bollux Botanicals

60-Second Science60-Second Science | More Science

Although higher temperatures can initially spur plant growth, the boost looks shortlived. Sophie Bushwick reports.

More 60-Second Science

Global warming might seem like a botanical boon. After all, milder temperatures and more carbon dioxide and nitrogen should feed flora. But a ten-year study has found that any initial positive effect on plant growth from climate change may soon disappear. The report is in the journal Nature Climate Change. [Sarah C. Elmendorf et al,Plot-scale evidence of tundra vegetation change and links to recent summer warming]

Researchers transplanted vegetation from four grassland ecosystems to lower, warmer elevations. They also modified the precipitation at the transplant sites based on altered rainfall estimates. For the first year, the plants did great, producing more biomass and churning out more oxygen for us. But their productivity went down for the rest of the decade.

What happened? Warming did speed up the nitrogen cycle, which should have increased nitrogen?s availability as plant fertilizer. But a lot of the nitrogen left the soil through run-off or uptake into the atmosphere. In addition, productive native plants began to lose out to species that thrive at higher temperatures, but are less productive than the natives. Warmer temperatures may spur immediate growth, but in the long term, we can?t expect plants to like it hot.

'Battleship' leads attack of game-based movies

(AP) ? "Battleship" steams into movie theaters overseas this week, giving international audiences the first chance to decide whether a board game-based movie is sea-worthy.

The Hasbro Inc. search-and-destroy game was once a way for kids to while away a summer afternoon. But as it debuts in Europe on Wednesday, "Battleship" the movie has become a potential franchise, sporting Michael Bay-inspired special effects, aliens invading Earth, a bikini-model actress, superstar Rihanna and, of course, lots of guns.

Whether the movie symbolizes Hollywood's lack of new ideas or its brilliance in adapting old ones, Comcast Corp.'s Universal Pictures is betting big that it's the latter. With a reported production budget of $200 million, observers say it will need to reap at least $500 million at box offices worldwide to pay off.

Hollywood's love of the sequel, the prequel, the reboot and the adapted novel all originate from the same premise: Moviegoers are more likely to buy a ticket if they are already familiar with the story.

But not since "Clue" bombed in 1985 has Tinseltown gambled on adapting a popular board game with no apparent storyline.

The idea of turning board games into movies has gained new traction in part because of the huge success of "Transformers," and to a lesser extent "G.I. Joe," which are both based on toys from toymaker Hasbro Inc. The three "Transformers" movies have grossed more than $2.6 billion worldwide, helping lift "Transformers" toys to become Hasbro's top-selling brand last year, exceeding 11 percent of its $4.3 billion in annual revenue.

For Hasbro, the movie is a way to get a globally marketed boost for its games business, which Sterne Agee analyst Margaret Whitfield called "stagnant" and lacking innovation. Turning that stagnation around is a goal of Brian Goldner, Hasbro's CEO since 2008. He told investors in February "we're going to reignite our games business."

If it succeeds, "Battleship" will be the advance guard of a whole fleet of planned adaptations of Hasbro games including "Ouija," also being developed by Universal for release in 2013, as well as "Risk" and "Candy Land," which are both in the works at Sony Corp. "Stretch Armstrong," a movie based on the glutinous-armed toy from Hasbro, is set for 2014 release by Relativity Media.

On paper, "Battleship" scores high on the checklist for blockbuster success: a hero in a life-or-death struggle against incomparable odds, a steamy love interest, a star-studded cast that includes Liam Neeson, and a whole lot of destruction and mayhem.

Marketing of the film borrows heavily on its successful predecessor, and trailers proclaim that the movie is "From Hasbro the company that brought you Transformers." Churning metal weaponry and explosions are unmistakably reminiscent of the special effects used in "Transformers," which was directed by Michael Bay.

"It reeks of 'Transformers,' which is all a good thing," says Gene Del Vecchio, an entertainment research consultant and author of "Creating Blockbusters: How to Generate and Market Hit Entertainment for TV, Movies, Video Games and Books."

The movie also has "built-in appeal" with parents who feel nostalgic about the game and want to pass it on to their children, he says.

That formula of appealing to parents with young kids has served Hollywood well, and this summer's line-up of popcorn fare includes everything from decades-old comic book superheroes "The Avengers," ''The Dark Knight Rises," and "The Amazing Spider-Man" to two dueling versions of Snow White.

Every year, about a dozen movies have toy-related tie-ins and this year is no different. Success really depends on word of mouth, not what got the first wave of filmgoers in the door.

While decrying Hollywood's lack of original ideas, UCLA screenwriting professor Richard Walter says the only chance for "Battleship" to succeed is if "they threw away everything but the title and made a good movie."

On the surface, little about "Battleship" the movie resembles the board game.

In the game, players call out letters and numbers that correspond to their opponents' grid, hoping to hit and sink a set of ships hidden there.

In the movie, alien ships burst out of their hiding place in the ocean and trap some battleships under a giant force field inside which the two sides must duke it out. The aliens appear to have weapons with distinctly peg-like shapes, along with some spinning metal balls of death known as "shredders," which were not part of the board game.

Hasbro has that little wrinkle covered.

The company is releasing a new version of the game using cards that enable the wielder to wipe out a whole row or column of their opponents' pieces, offering kids a way to relive the experience of the movie at home.

The mind-numbing array of toy-related movies might have some people groaning. That doesn't mean the trend will end any time soon.

"The parents can get fatigued, but children don't," says Jim Silver, editor in chief of toy-reviewing website TimetoPlayMag.com, who says parents usually succumb to their children's demands for movie-related toys.

"If you take three kids to the movies and they love it, and they want to have that play experience at home ... chances are parents are going to buy it. However, if they never see the movie, then that's a different story." Battleship debuts in the U.S. on May 18.

Adobe Online Ad Report: Search Spending Up 16 Percent, Mobile Traffic Quadrupled

adobe ad reportSearch may not be the most exciting area of online advertising right now, but it's still "the biggest driver of return on investment", according to a new report from Adobe. The report has the elaborate title, "Adobe Digital Index: Global Digital Advertising Update" and it covers the first quarter of this year. Compared to the same period last year, Adobe says that search spend increased 16 percent in the United States and 3 percent in the United Kingdom. Study suggests teamwork boosts intelligence

Cooperation leads to intelligence.

In fact, researchers believe that intelligence in our species and others ? correlated with the size of a brain?s neural network ? may have been an adaptation for tool use, for social learning, and for the accumulation of culture. Intelligence might also be the result of sexual selection.

PHOTOS: Faces of our ancestors

The findings, published in the latest Proceedings of the Royal Society B, could help to explain why humans, dolphins, elephants and other clever animals are so brainy.

The idea that complex social interactions drive the evolution of intelligence has been around since the 1970?s. The problem with related studies has been how to disentangle what factors actually fuel intelligence and what were subsequent consequences of it.

VIDEO: Dolphins invent new way to hunt fish

"Because experimental evolution of vertebrate brains is obviously impossible, we thought artificial intelligence would be the best way to evaluate the plausibility of the hypothesis," lead author Luke McNally told Discovery News.

The process might even be fueling the evolution of ever more intelligent individuals.

?It is conceivable that, with the rise of global networking, the demands of keeping track of an ever-growing number of social interactions may select for greater social intellect, but we?ll have to wait and see!? McNally said.

McNally, a member of Trinity College Dublin?s Theoretical Ecology Research Group, conducted the study with colleagues Sam Brown and Andrew Jackson. They created digital organisms that electronically evolved "brains" in order to succeed in social games where they could either cooperate or cheat on their opponent.

Each individual?s fitness, based on the game outcomes, was calculated per round, with certain individuals selected to reproduce. Newly produced "offspring" underwent mutations, similar to what happens in real life. Generations also died. The researchers ran this genetic algorithm until 50,000 generations were reached.

The researchers found that the digital organisms typically started to evolve more complex brains when their societies began to develop cooperation. The results therefore support the idea that cooperation helped to drive the evolution of intelligence in at least certain species.

"The transitions to cooperative societies from uncooperative ones select for intelligence because of the constant risk of being exploited by uncooperative individuals," McNally explained. "This requires memory of past interactions and use of this memory to make decisions."

He added, however, that the process creates opportunities for "na?ve individuals who always cooperate to invade the population. This can further create opportunities both for 'mean' individuals to invade and individuals that recognize and exploit the na?ve competitors."

He is also quick to add that intelligence facilitates cooperation, but does not inevitably lead to it. Some of the most cooperative species are bacteria and certain social insects such as wasps, bees and ants. While these organisms are very successful, they are small and not exactly known for their big brains.

A Machiavellian arms race, where greater intelligence and complex strategies select for further intelligence and complexity, evolved in humans and other animals which may have also been affected by other factors, the researchers concluded.

NEWS: Elephants outwit humans in intelligence test

Sarah Brosnan, an assistant professor of psychology and neuroscience at Georgia State University, told Discovery News that the new study ?is a really interesting addition to the literature? on what helps to explain the evolution of intelligence.

?This is one of the first models showing that selection for efficient cooperative decision making alone can influence the evolution of intelligence, so it provides a really nice proof of concept for the social intelligence hypothesis,? she said. ?This could potentially explain the large brain sizes seen in several highly cooperative species, including humans.?

Robin Dunbar, director of the RSA?s Institute of Cognitive and Evolutionary Anthropology in the School of Anthropology, said that it appears ?mutualism as opposed to simple altruism is critical to primate, including human, sociality,? suggesting ?that it is this kind of social cooperation that has been critical in terms of selection for large brains.?

7 Rules for Recording Police [Civil Rights]

Last week the City of Boston agreed to pay Simon Glik $170,000 in damages and legal fees to settle a civil rights lawsuit stemming from his 2007 felony arrest for videotaping police roughing up a suspect. Prior to the settlement, the First Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously ruled that Glik had a "constitutionally protected right to videotape police carrying out their duties in public." The Boston Police Department now explicitly instructs its officers not to arrest citizens openly recording them in public. More »

Big Brother 'legal' in US: Mumia Abu-Jamal exclusive to RT ? RT

RT has become the first TV channel in the world to speak to former journalist and Black Panther Mumia Abu-Jamal since he was removed from death row in January. Abu-Jamal will spend his life behind bars for killing a police officer in 1981.

Considered by many to be a flagrant miscarriage of justice, the case of Mumia Abu-Jamal has gained much attention worldwide. The defense claimed Abu-Jamal is innocent of the charges as the testimony of the prosecution's witnesses was not reliable. For decades, supporters have rallied behind him.

After spending almost 30 years on death row, Abu-Jamal told RT?s Anastasia Churkina that ?The truth is I spent most of my living years in my lifetime, on death row. So, in many ways, even to this day, in my own mind, if not in fact, I?m still on death row.?

RT:If you were not behind bars and could be anywhere else in the world, where would you be?? and what would you be doing?

Mumia Abu-Jamal: Since my earliest years I was what one would call an internationalist. That is paying attention to what is happening in other parts of the world. As an internationalist I am thinking about life lived by other people all around the world. Of course as an African American I would love to spend some time in parts of Africa. But it is also true that I have many friends and loved ones in France. I would really like to bring my family, my wife and kids to come see our street in Paris.

RT: Being behind bars you seem to be watching world affairs much closer than most people who are free to walk the streets. Which event of the last 30 years would you like to be a part of, if you could?

MAJ: I think the first would probably be the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa. Because of course once being South African, it was also global, because it was the touch point of white supremacy versus the freedom and dignity of African people. So South Africa would be a logical first choice.

But wherever the people are fighting for freedom, that wins my eye and gets my attention and moves my passion.

RT:You turn 56 at the end of the month, which means you will have to spend more than half of your life behind bars. Most people cannot even begin to imagine that. What is it like? How has it changed you?

MAJ: The point and fact is I have spent most of my life, the bigger percentage of my life on death row. And it cannot but have had a profound effect on consciousness and on the way one sees and interacts with the world. I like to tell myself that I actually spent a lot of that time beyond the bars, in other countries and in other parts of the world. Because I did so mentally. But mental can only take you so far. The truth of the matter is that I spent most of my living years in my lifetime on death row. So, in many ways, even to this day, in my own mind, if not in fact, I am still on death row.

RT: Your story has really become a symbol for many of a flawed justice system. Do you personally have any faith left in a fair and free justice system? Considering your life has been so much affected by it?

MAJ: When I was a teenager and in the Black Panther party I remember I was going to downtown Manhattan and protesting against political imprisonment and incarceration and threats facing Angela Davis? When Davis attacked the prison system, she talked about perhaps 250,000 or 300,000 people imprisoned throughout all the US as a problem to be dealt with, a crisis, a situation that bordered on fascism. Fast forward 30-40 years to the present, today more than 300,000 prisoners in California alone, one state out of fifty. The imprisonment in California alone exceeds that of France, Belgium and England ? I could name 4-5 countries combined.

We could not conceive back then of what it would become. It is monstrous when you really look at what is happening today. You can literally talk about millions of people incarcerated by the prisoner-industrial complex today: men, women and children. And that level of mass incarceration, really mass repression, has to have an immense impact in effect on our community, not just among families, but on the social and communal consciousness way, and an inculcation of fear among generations.

As a member of the Black Panther organization, Abu-Jamal had the FBI keeping an eye on him since he was 14. Since the introduction of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that allows American officials to watch, detain and hold people in the US, Big Brother is all but becoming a reality.?

?The so-called Patriot Act has made everything that was illegal back in the 1950s-1970s ? they have legalized it. They legalized the very things that the FBI agents and administrative knew was criminal back then. That means they can look in your mail, tap your phone ? they do all of that. What we?re living today is a national security state where Big Brother is legalized and rationalized.?

NYC phone booths to get second lives as slate stalls

NYC phone booths to get second lives as slate stallsBelieve it or not, but there are still hundreds, nay, thousands of phone booths out there on the streets of New York City. Obviously, in the age of the ubiquitous smartphone, most of them go untouched -- though, usually that has more to do with some mysterious substance covering the handset. The city is preparing to update this urban staple by replacing the touch tone quarter eaters with 32-inch tablets. The giant slates will offer a quick connection to 311 for requesting info and filing complaints, as well as interactive guides to the neighborhood. Instead of being a place to prank call 1-800 numbers, the phone booth will now become your one stop shop for restaurant suggestions and local landmark locations. 250 of the devices are being provided free of charge by City24x7 for a pilot program and, if all goes well, the company and the city will split revenue generate from ad sales following an expanded roll out. You can bet we'll be some of the first people on the street to put these through their paces when they make their expected debut in May.

Police clash with anti-govt protesters in central Tunis

TUNIS (Reuters) - Police clashed with thousands of anti-government protesters in Habib Bourguiba Avenue in Tunis on Monday, defying a ban on demonstrations in the area - a focal point of the revolt that ousted Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali more than a year ago.

At least 2,000 protesters came out to mark the Martyrs' Day holiday, which commemorates the 1938 suppression of pro-independence demonstrators by French colonial troops.

As they reached the interior ministry on Habib Bourguiba, they were met by police who fired tear gas to clear the crowd.

Police beat back groups of protesters with batons and chased stone-throwing youths down side streets in scenes reminiscent of the tactics used during Ben Ali's 23 years as president, when Tunisia was a police state and freedoms severely restricted.

"The people want the fall of the regime," protesters chanted, echoing the demand that was coined in Tunisia during the 2011 revolution and sparked the Arab Spring uprisings.

The moderate Islamist Ennahda party, which won post-revolution elections in October, is under pressure from secular parties to improve economic conditions and not give religion too prominent a place in public life.

Monday's crackdown, the worst in the capital for months, is likely to prove a public relations nightmare for the Islamist-led coalition government, already reeling from an attack by activist hackers on the prime minister's emails.

Protesters on Monday likened Ennahda to the Trabelsi family of Ben Ali's wife Leila, widely blamed by Tunisians for the rampant corruption of the final years of his rule. "The people are sick of the new Trabelsis," protesters chanted.

Tunisia has changed enormously since the revolution, with a democratic system now in place and ordinary people able to speak and demonstrate freely for the first time in memory.

But the interior ministry decided to ban rallies on Habib Bourguiba Avenue in late March after local hotels, restaurants and other businesses complained that repeated protests and counter-protests were snarling traffic and disrupting business.

The ban infuriated opponents of the government who chose Monday's public holiday to defy the police.

"No fear, no terror, the street belongs to the people," the crowds chanted as they confronted police.

POLITICAL BACKLASH

Numbers at the rally quickly shrank, and groups of dozens of demonstrators faced off with police. Reuters journalists saw protesters fainting from tear gas and others hobbling away with bruises.

Social networking sites buzzed with rumors that some protesters suffered life-threatening head injuries at the hands of police. One Reuters witness heard police officers urging each other on to beat back protesters and journalists. It was not immediately possible to verify reports of serious casualties.

Tunisia's revolution ousted Ben Ali in January 2011. In October, Ennahda won more than 40 percent of seats in the constituent assembly in the country's first free elections.

From the outset, Ennahda has faced strong opposition from secular parties and Tunisia's powerful labor union, who fear it will impose conservative religious values on a country long known for its liberal and secular outlook.

Ennahda has promised not to ban alcohol or enforce wearing veils but has faced pressure from conservative Salafi Islamists pushing for a greater role for religion in public life.

The party, which leads the government in coalition with two secular groups, has tried to steer a middle course but the clashes are likely to cause a political backlash.

Protesters and opposition groups accused Ennahda of sending in masked thugs in plain clothes, who could be seen chasing protesters, to back police. An Ennahda official, speaking to the official TAP news agency, denied those claims and said its supporters were peacefully marking the day in another location.

The youth arm of the secular opposition party Ettajdid issued a statement on Facebook condemning the crackdown.

"We call on the interior ministry to open an immediate inquiry to identify those responsible," it said.

"We affirm our right to demonstrate, particularly on Habib Bourguiba, which is a symbol of the revolution, and our defense ... of the unconditional freedom of speech and protest."

Free Business Advertising - ndybaba's posterous

?

They say article marketing is a fundamental concept when it comes to Search Engine Optimization.

A cornerstone, if you will. And I couldn't agree more.

Not only does article marketing get your website found by search engines faster, it will also increase where you rank amongst your competitors.

Naturally, you want to rank high, so having an effective software to facilitate your needs makes perfect sense.

Internet Marketing

So, let's pretend that you are going to try your hand at Internet Marketing, looking to make a living on the World-Wide-Web..

You go out and build a niche website: a sniper site, or some sort of blog. You build all your keyword rich pages that you are supposed to build that is recommended by the "Gurus" and now the paychecks are supposed to start flowing in, Right?

Well, I've got news for you. Life just isn't that easy. And if that's all you're going to do, then you might as well quit now.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again. If you want to rank - and I mean get top spot on the search engines - you need backlinks.

Backlinks that must come from a variety of sources with a variety of different anchor texts.

Enter the Article Marketing Robot

Article Marketing Robot is a completely automated backlink building tool to help drive your website to the top of the search engine rankings.

Backlinks that come from a huge variety of article directories.

Using the power of Article Marketing Robot, you can get the most out of the articles that you write by submitting them, then rewriting them, and then resubmitting them.

Once your articles become published and found by the search engines, you will begin to generate essential backlinks that are required for your website to get noticed.

When your website is noticed, you start to get traffic. When you get traffic, you make money. Make sense?

"I Highly Recommend The Article Marketing Robot "

?

I thought that I would just drop you a quick line to say thank you for creating such a powerful tool. Your Article Marketing Robot is the best I have seen and used - I have trawled through many and none of them have delivered what they have promised until yours.

The totaly automated approach that you have adopted for the complete process of Article Submission is what is needed. The automatic sign up process and email confirmation is seemless, the inbuilt article editor and functions included are surpurb, and there is only one thing that can be said about the inbuilt synonym thesaurus 'WOW!!!!!!'.

The fact that the Article Marketing Robot then goes and submits all these articles to every article site in the database of in excess of 1000 Article Directories is truly outstanding. But then you have gone even further, and built in a timed submission system so that I can decide how many articles to submit and how often.

I highly recommend The Article Marketing Robot through gritted teeth as I would really like to keep this just for myself!

Many Thanks for this great product

Article Marketing Robot has been claimed the number one tool for submitting articles on many, many SEO forums, and continues to be the #1 article submitter on the planet.

This article submitter is continuously updated with new features that will help drive your websites to the top of the search engines.

In fact, many subscription based article submission services don't even stack up to the power of Article Marketing Robot and how well of a job it does.

Do a search around some of the top internet marketing and SEO forums, and you'll see for yourself just how powerful and good the article submitter in AMR really is.

Article Submission Software

Needless to say, AMR is your choice when it comes to article submission software.

I call these "SynGroups", or Groups of Synonyms.

Once you spin up a few articles, all you need to do is press the Mass Replacer button and AMR will search out all words that can be replaced.

Ultimate Feature #1

"Sign Up to Hundreds of Laser-Targetted Article Directories With A Single Mouse Click - Then Confirm All The Confirmation Emails Instantly and Automatically..."

  • Manually signing up to article directories is very easy if you only have one or two to do, but if you have over 1000 of them, then that becomes a daunting task.

  • Confirming the confirmation emails would probably make your fingers fall off with all the mouse clicking you need to do.

  • Article Marketing Robot takes care of all the manual labour of creating accounts and confirming the emails!

  • You will be signed up and confirmed in a matter of minutes.

  • View the end result of the signup process by clicking the Result button.
  • Article Marketing Robot has sophisticated article directory signup functionality built into it that will make getting started super easy. All you need to do is create an Author Account with a valid email address and you will be ready to go.

Some tips for creating a successful Author Account:

    • Don't use gmail or any other free email provider. Many directories decline free emails
    • Use an email that is created from your domain via cpanel
    • Ensure you have a unique first and last name. "Mike Smith" will most likely already be taken, and will result in a lot of failed sign-ups.
    • Fill in all your details. Don't get lazy, as many article directories require things like phone number etc. Fake this info if you have to.

Email confirmation is ridiculously easy as well. Simply enter your POP details into Article Marketing Robot, and click the mouse. That's it!

Here are the common settings if you are using an email you created with cpanel. We'll say your email is "articles@supercow.com"

    • Server: mail.supercow.com
    • Port: 100
    • SSL: Unchecked
    • Account Name: articles+supercow.com
    • Password: Whateveritis
    • SPA: Unchecked
    • Delete: Unchecked

That's It! Hit the Test button and Article Marketing Robot should succeed!

    Ultimate Feature #2

"Rewrite Your Articles Using Article Marketing Robot's Intelligent Spinner That Will Sort Your Synonyms By Definition..."

    • Getting lost finding the appropriate synonyms for a word that has multiple meanings?

  • Don't bother sorting through hundreds of words that don't make sense!

  • Article Marketing Robot sorts by definition, for faster, easier spinning.

  • Nested Spinning that goes to unlimited depths!

  • Tab through your article and rewrite each word efficiently

  • Synonym Groups store your previously used synonyms
  • Article Marketing Robot has the best spinner built right into it that money can buy. Simply put, there is no other software that does what our spinner does.

Can you imagine sorting through hundreds of words that don't have anything to do with the current word you are spinning?

Article Marketing Robot makes this super easy by sorting all your words by their meaning, so all you need to do is select the ones you like. It truly is a no-brainer.

Plus, Article Marketing Robot stores your previously used words, called Synonym Groups, so you can just Mass Replace those words in future article rewriting sessions.

Also, you get tabbed navigation which will speed up your rewriting.

    Ultimate Feature #3

"Scheduled Article Submission That Will Dripfeed OR Blast Your Spun Articles All Over The Web..."

    • Spin on Submit allows you to place your spin syntax in your article and then submit away. Article Marketing Robot will spin on the fly.

  • Create article submissions on YOUR schedule. Submit 5 articles every 24 hours, or 20 articles every one hour. Anything you want.

  • Start the submission X amount of days from now.

  • Multi-Threaded support will ensure your articles are blasted at an extremely fast rate.
  • What is the point of having one software that does spinning and another one that does submission?

There is no point! That just creates extra work for you, plus then you have to transfer all your data back and forth between software, and then make them all work together.

    Forget that!

Article Marketing Robot will submit your articles that are written in it's Article Editor. What more could you ask for?

And it does this on demand. If you have spin syntax in your article, AMR will spin it on submit.

Press the submit button. Let Article Marketing Robot do all the hard work.

    "I find this software AMAZING"

    ?

I find this software AMAZING. I did my first run last night, running it on WinXP 64 bit on a Mac (using VMware / Parallels)... the first run, it submitted to approximately 800 directories and first thing this morning I found the article on over 200 directories already.

I timed it today when I submitted another article under another author name. It took about 6 minutes to create all the accounts and it took 8:39 seconds to submit to 867 directories. I've bought three other automated article submission software programs and none of them come as close in ease of usage, efficacy and SPEED.

    This is AWESOME Vince.

"Thank you so much for sharing your amazing program with us"

    ?

    Vince,

Thank you for this AMAZING program. I have never used an article spinner before, and quite frankly - was afraid to. I was afraid there would be a lack of control which would result in poor verb and tense usage. Your program gave me the control I wanted for the article spinning and the ease of use was simply delightful.

The article submitter is very versatile and allowed me to easily submit the articles to the types of directories I wanted and when I wanted. I have tried others and felt totally helpless while my articles were sent out to what the program deemed was appropriate.

The videos were extremely helpful and cut my learning curve on the program down significantly.

Thank you so much for sharing your amazing program with us.

    Smile,

"... don't waste anymore time pondering. Just buy it and use it!"

    ?

Wow is all I can say! As Mark Dickenson said earlier, this is the BEST article submission software by far.
I was lazy to use a cpanel email address and used one of my Gmail accounts. So I obviously got a low sign up rate. But I'm not complaining as I got over 650 accounts confirmed. That was y'day!
Today I submitted 2 articles in 2 niches. When I searched for my unique Pen name on Google, already I have 5 of my articles indexed and this is within minutes. This is truly unbelievable and Thank you for a great software.
If I can discipline myself to do 2 fresh submissions every week per niche, I should start seeing long term benefits!

Thanks for a great software Vince!
    Chucky

P.S. I'm not the kind of guy that leaves a positive feedback for every item that I buy. I asked for a refund for a product that I was not happy with just the other day. But this one is on the opposite end of the spectrum. Do you want some more money Vince?

In a few days when all the articles get accepted and when Google spiders pick it up, I will really see the value of this great software. It saves me hours!

    "... AMR is a no brainer ..."

    ?

I've had AMR for a few weeks now and have to say it absolutely kicks ass. There is no doubt that I have historically relied heavily on profile links (with some blog commenting thrown in) for the majority of my backlinking because, to be honest, it always works well for me for Google ranking. But, I am always looking for new backlink sources and have never ever liked any other article submission software before. Each page that I am trying to rank is getting in at least one AMR submission to help balance things out and get more link juice.

As someone who has tried pretty much every backlinking software/automation out there, I think AMR is a no brainer for anyone looking for solid sources of additional backlinks hands off.

    Good For Writers

If you are a writer, this tool is for you! The tool is very fast and works on it's own, but, you do have control over it. If you are willing to pay the price to get the full version, you will save a lot of time and effort. If you are worried that the product isn't that good, but you've already put the eighty dollars into it, don't be! There is a five day trial that you can use to your advantage, but everyone I know that has been on the trial version has bought it because they like it so much.

    ?

It's the best article submitter on the market. I sent an article yesterday and within minutes it was #1 on the first page of google and it was on the first page several times as well. Now published to over 800 directories.

That's the thing about AMR and why it's the best. When you talk about submitting articles that's what it does and it works unlike other article submitters that are full of bugs, mostly dead directories and never get updated. AMR works every time.

If article marketing is your main business in internet marketing then you can't live without this program. Paying for this program is a no brainer for any serious article marketer as I'm sure if you're good at this the monthly fee will pay for itself with sales.
